Just please bring an item for the Waupaca Area Food Pantry.
Pupy Costello is beyond a doubt Wisconsin’s hardest honky tonking classic country and western swing crooner, with over 359 combined years in the entertainment industry, his latest incarnation, the New Hiram Kings, is a hot new band of ace players ripping up classic juke joint country and western swing tunes. They harken back to a bygone era of country music. If you like your honky tonk fully basted, then this is the band for you. Stewed, screwed, and tattooed, and with a hefty helping of dysfunction, the New Hiram Kings play from a canon that mostly only they know, and nothing is off limits. Southern country regional hits from the 50s, 1920s hokum blues, western swing chestnuts, and -most of all- hard core honky tonk drinking songs, they pick the best of the best from a deep treasure trove of American music. But don’t expect a museum piece. Though the songs are hallowed, these boys play them with the original intent: hard, fast, loose, and with abandon. Visit Pupy’s site here.

Visit Wautopia on Saturday, August 18, for a great lineup of music and theatrical happenings!
The Waupaca Community Arts Board has planned a spectacular participatory art project, located on Sessions Street. Designed by resident artist Susan Reniewicki, this project, called Wautopia, has been created by over 18 groups in the Waupaca area, and was constructed by many volunteers on the Waupaca Community Arts Board Wautopia Construction Crew. In May of 2018, 18 “pod kits” were created by the construction crew, under the direction of Steve Laedtke. They were then delivered, assembled and painted by area groups. The pods were then returned and assembled on Sessions Street, creating the nearly 3 story sculpture named Wautopia.
The Wautopia project envisions what our community can be if we all work together. In Wautopia, we nurture relationships, build on each others’ strengths and work together, even when it seems impossible!
Wautopia participants assembled, painted and creatively managed their pods. The participants include:
– Waupaca Rotary
– Winchester Academy
– Badger’s Den Brewclub and 22 Lakes Brewery
– Office Outfitters/WCAB
