The Line-Up
Pre-Party with the Minstrels
Early Set: 2- 4:30 p.m.
H.H. HINDER Brewing Co., 804 Churchill St. (Main Taproom)
John Laedtke & Friends will warm up the night by reeling out Irish traditional tunes and ballads. John has been in attendance of the Irish Wake since he was a teenager, learning Irish music from many musicians who preceded him. He has a deep love for world music, especially Reggae, Flamenco, and Romani guitar styles of playing. John will be joined by a group of music loving friends.
Irish Wake Songbooks will be available. You are invited to bring an instrument and sing along!
4:30 -6:15 p.m.— Between the two main sets, a procession will take place, carrying the coffin to the new H.H. Hinder Eight10 building with Irish whistles and other musicians playing. They will play during the procession and after. This would be a great time to get some delicious Irish food from the KRB’s food truck and enjoy more music from John and Friends. Again, if you have an instrument and wish to join in, we would love and welcome that. Singing along is also encouraged. We will have Irish Wake Songbooks available.
Get Your Jig On!
Late Set: 6:30 - 10:00 p.m.
The Eight10 H.H. HINDER Brewing Co. — 810 Churchill St. (New Building)
Flip O’ The Coin takes the Hinder stage with Irish music. Flip O’ the Coin is a group that still plays Irish and old-time music for historical events, Ceili dances, weddings, and a variety of other fun events. Their goal is to get people dancing to jigs, polkas, and reels in the old-time and Irish tradition!
Dance all night and get your jig on to authentic Irish music.
Around 7 p.m. John Laedtke and Friends will make their way over to Doc Kelly’s to continue the music and merriment for the patrons at the restaurant.
Cèilidh Dance
We are excited to invite those who wish to participate to learn how to dance a Cèilidh Dance! We will have callers available to call out what the steps are. We hope you will join in and make this a unique and enjoyable community experience.
A cèilidh (/ˈkeɪli/ KAY-lee, Scottish Gaelic: [ˈkʲʰeːlɪ]) or céilí (Irish: [ˈceːlʲiː]) is a traditional Scottish and Irish social gathering. In its most basic form, it simply means a social visit. In contemporary usage, it usually involves dancing and playing Gaelic folk music, either at a home or a larger concert at a social hall or other community gathering place.

Honor All with the Honor Roll
Come prepared to add the name of a loved one who has passed this past year to our Honor Roll Book. The Honor Roll will be available at H.H. Hinder during the entire event.
As always, we will honor the road that brought us here. We’re battered, missing so many, but always here for each other.
Irish Wake Coffin
The Irish Wake coffin is a staple of our celebration. The coffin is used as a metaphor symbolizing a final goodbye to loved ones lost from the last year, but also a goodbye to things you want to let go of going into the next year. What are you holding on to that you might be ready to release? Write down what you want to let go of, write down the names of loved ones (also submit names to the Honor Roll which will be read during the Wake), and also, bring small items that will go into the coffin if you wish.
